EDWARDIAN RENOVATION
Rear side return extension and kitchen installation
Adding valuable additional floor space to the rear of the property was key in unlocking the potential of this house to fashion a sociable family kitchen dining room opening up on to the garden. Laura was able to design the room around a much-wished for island and a traditional range cooker, creating a chic nod to the house’s Edwardian heritage. We carried out the extension and managed the installation of the glazing, before moving on to the kitchen installation. With a young family, it was important to work sympathetically to ensure minimum upheaval throughout.
We absolutely loved working with Laura and Elliott on their forever home and fell in love with their modern take on heritage shaker style.

VINTAGE CHIC EXTENSION
Rear side return extension and kitchen installation
A side extension provided the width needed here to create a stylish kitchen/dining space, ideal for sociable gatherings and parties. Nods to vintage industrial design combined with a traditional shaker kitchen gave the extension a hearty feel. Here, bespoke frameless glazing was also key to adding a contemporary aesthetic as an invitation to connect with the outside space.
Being a garden designer, our client then married their outdoor space with the interior using a variety of textural house plants and enjoyed adding beautiful, unique touches to the overall interior design. We adored working on this project and loved our client’s passion for creating a space that works so perfectly to embody their personality and how they love to share their time with loved ones in the kitchen.
This is a very common extension design for a local semi-detached property and will enable you to create the sociable open plan kitchen/living space you dream of for your young family.

CLASSIC WITH AN INDUSTRIAL TWIST
Ground floor remodel and refurbishment
Our client here wanted to move the kitchen from a cramped and enclosed space in the centre of the house to the rear, creating a sociable open-plan kitchen and dining space. They opened up the entire ground floor area to interconnect a dramatic lounge within this space as well. The kitchen flowed beautifully into the dining area, which then led to the cosy drawing room/lounge. Glazing to the roof and rear of the property has made this new space light and inviting. Stylish Crittal-style doors lead to a sunny balcony area overlooking their treasured garden, meaning they can now sit at the end of the island and gaze out to enjoy their garden in all seasons. The kitchen was carefully designed around a large central island which would become a hub for friends and family alike to gather around at the weekend, as well as for the couple to enjoy relaxing evenings in, preparing food, cooking and chatting.
Extensive steelwork was celebrated here by including some of it in the interior scheme and painting it black as a feature.
By changing the use of the entire ground floor footprint, a whole new lifestyle was created and the house now feels so much wider and more spacious. It has also allowed for a utility area, huge larder units and a ground floor toilet, making more effective use of space beneath the stairs too. Underfloor heating was also installed.

MODERN KITCHEN/DINING/LIVING
Extensive ground floor extension and remodel
Once a small bungalow, with a warren of small rooms making up the ground floor footprint; Now a large chalet style home with 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and a large open-plan rear extension spanning the entire width of the rear of the house. We worked with the client and architect to design a spacious and contemporary family home using the original dated bungalow shell to build on new, contemporary areas. The ground floor extension was sizeable and with extensive steel work, walls of glazing transformed the once dark rear into a light-filled space connecting it harmoniously with the garden. The new part of the house now house a large family kitchen centred around an island, dining area, utility room, play area and family living room. Described by the client as a modern beach house, the family now enjoy the entirety of their time during the day in this space, working and living in between stints at the beach. With a large decked area, with pergola, at the rear, the family can make use of this area as an extended room in the summer months, being able to cater for lots of friends and family gatherings.

CONTEMPORARY GARDEN SALON
Bespoke built minimalist garden room
One of our favourite garden rooms to date: A striking, minimalist black cube that now houses a contemporary hair salon, nestled in the garden of our client. From the initial idea through to the finest of finishing details, our client was on hand to curate her dream business premises. Sophie had a clear vision of what she wanted her clients to experience as they entered the salon, as well as her own brand styling concept, so it was a great project to collaborate on.
This garden room was a sizeable space, with stained black vertical larch cladding to the exterior. Inside, our client opted for a muted, earthy palette with a stone tiled floo, also choosing to add in some roof windows for added natural light and a connection to the every-changing sky. Crittal style doors, warm dark wood accents and deco lighting make the space feel homely as well as adding a hint of vintage glamour. We loved working on this with our client and adore the end result.
